After the devastating earthquake and tsunamis in Southern Asia, LWR launched WAVE OF GIVING™ to fund its rebuilding efforts in the affected countries. In its first week, WAVE OF GIVING has generated more than $4.7 million dollars. Thrivent Financial member donations to LWR will be matched dollar-for-dollar through April 15, 2005, up to $2 million.

Islamic Relief

"Islamic Relief, an international relief and development charity, is spending an initial €1,400,000 to bring aid to the survivors of the tsunami disaster, and aid has already arrived in Indonesia. The money pledged comes from the Islamic Relief emergency fund, so donations are needed to provide further assistance to people affected in Southern Asia.

United Way International

United Way International, United Way of America, and United Way affiliates in the tsunami disaster areas are working together to assess and address the long-term needs of the affected communities in Southern Asia. The United Way South Asia Response Fund has been created to support these long-term recovery efforts and will be administered by United Way International. Salvation Army

"The Salvation Army is providing 24-hour aid to thousands of people affected by the tsunami in South Asia that killed at least 150,000 people and devastated 11 countries. Salvation Army workers in the indigenous, grass-roots organizations in three of the most affected countries were some of the first to respond to this tragedy .
